PokerStars Game #2308321561: Tournament #11142526, Hold'em No Limit - Level II (15/30) - 2005/08/10 - 17:43:34 (ET)
Table '11142526 1' Seat #4 is the button
Seat 1: DARTHTATER (1925 in chips)
Seat 2: chad98 (2515 in chips)
Seat 3: GenoTHP (1425 in chips)
Seat 4: nsbtwo (1705 in chips)
Seat 5: Dadiotool (1583 in chips)
Seat 6: ride4130 (2307 in chips)
Seat 8: pipes995 (1375 in chips)
Seat 9: GALLARD0 (665 in chips)
Dadiotool: posts small blind 15
ride4130: posts big blind 30
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to GenoTHP [Qd As]
pipes995: calls 30
GALLARD0: calls 30
DARTHTATER: calls 30
chad98: folds
GenoTHP: raises 90 to 120 (to scare off further limpers)
nsbtwo: calls 120
Dadiotool: folds
ride4130: folds
pipes995: calls 90
GALLARD0: calls 90
DARTHTATER: calls 90
*** FLOP *** [5c Ah 6h]
pipes995: checks
GALLARD0: checks
DARTHTATER: checks
GenoTHP: bets 150 (Pot size is 525 so looking back, my bet is actually poor in terms of removing chasers but really I am betting for information here on who has an Ace)
nsbtwo: calls 150
pipes995: calls 150
GALLARD0: raises 150 to 300 (The min raise means it is time to protect my hand as I feel that I am ahead at this point but there are some people drawing. If I can scare off the draws but keep the other AX I think is out there or make him fold, I am in good shape)
DARTHTATER: folds
GenoTHP: raises 1005 to 1305 and is all-in
nsbtwo: calls 1155
pipes995: folds
GALLARD0: calls 245 and is all-in (at this point, I am assuming that someone flopped 2 pair and I am ready to get dumped out!)
*** TURN *** [5c Ah 6h] [Qs]
*** RIVER *** [5c Ah 6h Qs] [Ks]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
GenoTHP: shows [Qd As] (two pair, Aces and Queens)
nsbtwo: shows [Ad Jh] (a pair of Aces)
GenoTHP collected 1520 from side pot
GALLARD0: shows [Ac 4s] (a pair of Aces)
GenoTHP collected 2430 from main pot
So they both called with their Aces only which is mind boggling frankly. The guy with only 245 more to call I can accept but the guy who had me covered? What on earth was he thinking??
I actually can't decide if I played it well or badly, who wants to insult me first? |

the problem is, online it's so hard to tell the quality of your opponents, who are liable to do anything with any cards, and it's tough to get a handle on how they're playing. I think it was a perfectly legitimate raise- ideally they fold, but if they call, you have top pair with a good kicker. A-5 or A-6 should have folded to your initial raise, so all that is beating you is trips or A-A (unlikely considering pre-flop betting) or A-K. You're only behind to a well- disguised, excellent hand, which is fair enough, or to someone who, for some reason, called with A-horrible kicker, which you can't legislate for. Any draws are being offered horrendous pot odds. You have to assume your opponents are half decent.
The question is, what the hell were they doing calling your raise, unless you've established a table image as a loose player, but since it's you, Andy, I somehow doubt that.
but so many times, you raise and people call with crap and hit on the river, and sometimes you can't help but ask them 'why, dammit, why?!' and they say: 'it's only X amount of dollars. Why not? I was curious.' It hurts. I just figure you got on the right end of one, when fools called and you beat them. Just go with it, I say. |
